Work Horse Series: AT37G

A staple piece of equipment in many fleets, the AT37G was designed specifically for the electric utility industry. With features to increase productivity while lowering the costs of constructing and maintaining overhead electrical distribution lines, the AT37G has provided linesmen with continuous success on the job.

Work Practice

Designed to increase efficiency and productivity, the AT37G is one of Altec’s most popular telescopic articulating models for the electric utility industry, giving linesmen a quality tool to get the job done right the first time. This aerial has a working height of 13 metres and a platform capacity up to 180 kgs. While servicing transformers and powerlines across the nation, linemen use the AT37G to manoeuvre in residential and high-traffic areas, disconnecting and reconnecting power, as needed. This work horse ensures that each job is completed correctly.

Design

Because of its work in heavier trafficked areas, the AT37G was designed with a shorter lower boom which allows for compact flexibility, providing minimal traffic intrusion on the work site. With platform access from the ground and cargo bay, workers can get into the platform easily and safely from any point.

Options

The AT37G can be configured with optional spring lockouts. This allows for quicker work site set up and an ability to raise the boom without always requiring the use of outriggers (depending on the location of the work site).

Additional Standard Features

The AT37G features a hydraulic boom extension as a standard and a lower boom articulation of -25 degrees to 75 degrees. The articulating and telescopic features provide the greatest side reach and working height combination for maximum flexibility on the worksite. With a compensated articulating arm, this aerial can move quickly due to the straight-line motion accomplished by a single function joystick. Altec’s ergonomically designed ISO-Grip single handle controller provides additional safety and a smooth ease-of-operation.

Altec Market Manager Eric Welty believes that the AT37G’s biggest benefits are its reliability and efficient performance, saying, “We have a large number of these units out in the field. It’s that reliability, quality and overall performance that provides a lot of customer satisfaction.”
